Wood Knot and Moss
On US Hwy 441 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, between Gatlinburg, TN and New Found Gap, is scenic Campbell's overlook. My brother and I weren't content to just look at the view, so we hiked down into the valley and were rewarded with the discovery of the west prong of the Little Pigeon River. There was so much to see and enjoy in the partially dry streambed. Here, I found moss growing out of a large knot in a tree root in this 2001-12-28 photo.
