Root Formations
It's always fun to explore new places and to take on a challenge. On 2001-12-28, my brother talked me into attacking the Chimney Tops trail (in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park) late on a winter afternoon and with some minor knee pain from several previous days of hiking. I came across this tree, with its intricate root system exposed, near the summit.
