Lewis & Clark Monument

Lewis and Clark were the two great explorers commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson to survey the Louisiana Purchase. In November of 1805, Lewis and Clark reached the westernmost point in their survey when they came to the shores of the Pacific Ocean in what is now the town of Seaside, Oregon. I photographed this monument to their trek, just off the beach in Seaside, on 2000-06-19.
